Warning: This is slightly silly.

Last year at Christmas I wrote a poem to give to my Oakley relatives. Here it is:

My Theory on World Peace

In an age of war

We always want more

Happiness, joy

Love, and compassion

We’re always looking

For a distraction

From pain and strife

We want a perfect life

So what is my theory?

How can we all be cheery?

The first step to mediate,

Odors we must eliminate.

Don’t forget to take a bath.

You can avoid all kinds of wrath.

Let peace begin with you.

Keep the peace

What can I say? I’m not a poet. I’m a fiction writer.

If you’re looking for a gag gift this Christmas, wrap a bar of soap and attach the poem. Just make sure you include my name, website address and blog address at the bottom. I want more web traffic–a shameless marketing ploy.

Now here is the truth:

Loving you is easy ’cause you’re beautiful…..

What if you’re not attractive as the world sees attractiveness? Does this song imply that loving wouldn’t be so easy if you weren’t so beautiful?

I’m thankful the love of God isn’t hinged on my outward beauty or even my inward beauty, because I would be found lacking in both areas.

But He loves me. The only condition is that I trust him. Put all my worries and cares in His hands. I like the thought of giving up all my struggles over to a higher power–Jesus Christ.

Because of Him, I become Something Beautiful.

I Peter 5:7 (NIV)

7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Pray for China. The attached news article concerns me greatly.

I wish I had the funds and the time to be a spectator at the Olympics and use that time to witness to the Chinese.

I challenge those Christians who are blessed with discretionary funds and have the heart of an evangelist to consider attending the Olympics(if it is allowed) with the sole purpose of telling the Chinese the good news of Jesus Christ.

What’s on my Christmas wish list this year?

Rain. And Lots of it. Preferably not the frozen kind.

It shouldn’t be too hard to get. After all, Santa uses “Rain” deer to tow his sleigh.

(My attempt at a sense of humor, lest you think I’m not so bright.)

Isaiah 45:8 (King James Version)

8Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.

A recent discovery of mine:
